Light up a Life is a series of special community events organised by hospices around the UK during the festive period.
These events help families and friends to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones. It could be in memoriam, to celebrate the gift of friendship or to mark a special occasion. The events are open to anyone, not just people whose loved one was cared for by a hospice. Light up a Life is also an opportunity to give thanks for all the good in our lives.
Usually, the most important part of these events is the opportunity to dedicate a message in memory of a loved one by:lighting a candle and/or recording the name of someone special in a book of remembrance, or reading it aloud.
We held the first interfaith Light up a Life service last December which was attended by a number of people wishing to remember their loved ones. The Quakers of Hereford are kindly offering their meeting room again for this year’s service.
If you would like to be involved with the prayers – poems or music, please get in touch with Mike Hadden: mikejhadden@gmail.com
or Fiona Horwood: fihorwood@gmail.com
