organised by Herefordshire InterFaith with the kind permission of the Revd Simon Lockett
Join us as we celebrate the richness and diversity of religious
and spiritual poetry and prose, finding hidden treasure
in the centuries of rich words that were penned by those writing
from the heart of their experience of the sacred.
Drawing on poets from a variety of faith traditions and beyond,
the focus for the day will be REFLECTION, from reflection on ones
relationship with ones God to reflecting on ones innermost thoughts
and seeing how this can inspire our creativity.
A number of workshops are planned with opportunities for contemplative listening to works from many different times, cultures and places as well as active creative engagement to bring out our own ideas and imaginations.
Judy Dinnen and Wendy Barzetovich, two accomplished poets, will give helpful tips on how to write your own poetry and the opportunity to appreciate a number of faith based poems.
Sohrab’s workshop is all about spiritual calligraphy and his afternoon workshop will explain and show the wonderful rhythm of producing these pieces of art. How does your name look in Arabic!
Lama Choesang’s workshop is based on the beautiful art of illumination. The opportunity to illustrate a letter at the beginning of a poem. Something that anyone can achieve without being an artist. Beautiful faith based poems offered for you to illuminate and decorate.
Do you write poetry? Susanne will be hosting a gentle poetry corner which will be a welcoming space for anyone to share a poem they have written or a favorite spiritual or faith inspired poem. Come to listen or to share something that has come to you or touched you, ancient or modern and from any source.
We will also have an offering of poems from the children of Madley Primary School some of whom will join us for the morning.
We welcome those of all faiths or none
