World Religion Day 16th Jan 2022

WORLD RELIGION DAY 2022

The aim of World Religion Day is to promote interfaith understanding and harmony by emphasizing the common denominators underlying all religions. Mankind, with its single origin, must now strive towards the reconciliation of that which has been split up. Furthermore, in this day and age human unity and true equality depend more on future goals, on what we are becoming and whither we are going. The prime cause of age-old conflict between man and man has been the absence of one ethical belief, a single spiritual standard.

World Religion Day observances help to foster a unified approach to the changes that confront humanity, an approach that sees the whole earth as a single country and humanity its citizens.

If we live in our oneness-heart we will feel the essence of all religions, which is the love of God. Forgiveness, compassion, tolerance, brotherhood and the feeling of oneness are the signs of a true religion.
~Sri Chinmoy

In a world where various forms of modern tyranny seek to suppress religious freedom, or try to reduce it to a subculture without right to a voice in the public square, or to use religion as a pretext for hatred and brutality, it is imperative that the followers of the various religions join their voices in calling for peace, tolerance, and respect for the dignity and rights of others.
~Pope Francis

Why not put an end to this religious strife and establish a bond of connection between the hearts of men? Why should not the followers of one religion praise the Founder or Teacher of another?…Inasmuch as our God is one God and the Creator of all mankind, He provides for and protects all. We acknowledge Him as a God of kindness, justice and mercy. Why then should we, His children and followers, war and fight, bringing sorrow and grief into the hearts of each other? God is loving and merciful. His intention in religion has ever been the bond of unity and affinity between humankind.
~Excerpt from a talk by Abdu’l Baha

Let us walk softly on the Earth with all living beings great and small, remembering as we go that one God kind and wise created all.
